Hello all! I hope the summer is treating you well. I'm really excited to share about what I've been up to over the past few months.

Settling into my office

I've been continuing to settle into my space in Bloomfield/Garfield .... and it's been a real blast! I'd love to start meeting more folx in-person, but I will also continue to remain available via telehealth for accessibility purposes.

Wrapping up Level I: Foundations of gender affirming voicework

I just finished co-training the Level I training with a group of music therapists and music therapy students ... and we're now moving into Level II: Facilitation! It's been such a process -- joys and growing pains -- and I'm so excited to see where this crew goes next with this work.

Bridging my personal music making & my clinical work

Lastly, if you've been following along, you know that I've shifted from my singer/songwriter endeavors being housed separately to including it within the variety of the work I do under the umbrella of Becoming Through Sound. This is to model the role of creativity within our lives and how creativity can be a central part of the healing process. In the spirit of this, below are some upcoming gigs where I'll be playing a mixture of original music as well as covers of LGBTQIA+ and female musicians. I would love to see you there!

Wishing you a lovely rest of your August, and stay tuned for more updates!

What brought me to Pittsburgh?

I was transplanted here! Having grown up in Northeast Pennsylvania, I spent the majority of my higher education across the state in Slippery Rock. When I graduated, I decided that I wanted to stick around the Pittsburgh area, and the rest is history 😊

What brought me into the work I do?

My work at Becoming Through Sound is the culmination of a variety of my own interests and passions. Initially, I started off pursuing music education, performance, and gender studies, but that eventually led me to music therapy which further led me into the counseling field. In many ways each of these fields are still reflected in the work I do currently, and it is such a joy! I love being able to dip my toes into many walks of life. My main motivation for doing the work I do comes from a desire to support others with living their best lives.

What's my favorite caffeinated beverage?

Always coffee (although I wouldn't say no to a good chai tea)! These days I usually just drink it black or with oat milk, but I'm not super picky as long as its caffeinated ☕️

What's my favorite hobby?

My hobbies change with the seasons and with my mood. Currently, I am enjoying video gaming (in particular Stardew Valley and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom) as well as reading in my spare time. I also love to swim, but I don't get to do it as much as I would like to!
